When is the next Board of Education meeting? PAUSD Board of Education meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, with some exceptions. Meetings are held in the Board Room at the District Office (25 Churchill Avenue) at 7 pm. Meetings are cablecast live on Channel 28. Meetings & Materials lists schedules and materials for current and past Board meetings.
How do I find out what's on the agenda for the next meeting of the Board of Education? Board of Education agendas and materials are available to the public the day before a Board of Education meeting. You may download the entire Board Packet from Meetings & Materials or pick one up at 25 Churchill Avenue between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:45 pm.
How do I make my views known to the Board of Education? You may speak on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed, or on an item that is not on the agenda during a specified time. See How to Address the Board of Education for complete information on the process. You may also write a letter to any Board Member expressing your views. Where are the schools located? Twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools are spread throughout Palo Alto and Stanford. See Schools & Sites for a complete listing of schools, addresses, and contact information.
What school will my child attend? As much as possible, students attend their neighborhood school. If the neighborhood school is full by the time you register your child, you may be assigned to a different school. See our School Finder to locate your neighborhood school.
How do I register my child for school? Register with the PAUSD Central Attendance office (25 Churchill Avenue), not at individual schools. See Registration for a detailed description of procedures and requirements. Student Registration Packets are available online and at the Central Attendance office. Return all registration materials (by mail, fax, or in person) to Central Attendance.
What immunizations must my child have for school? Immunizations and health records must be up-to-date before students may enter school. See Health Requirements for a complete explanation of requirements.
How do I notify the school my child's address has changed? When you change your address, please complete the address change form (78K) and submit with the proper proof of residence to central attendance.

What bus transportation is available for my child?

PAUSD provides limited home-to-school bus service. For a fee, transportation is available to Los Altos Hills students attending Palo Alto schools and to some Palo Alto and Stanford residents.

Transportation for Voluntary Transfer students is arranged through the Voluntary Transfer Program. For information about purchasing bus passes and a schedule of bus routes, see Transportation.

How do I purchase lunch tickets for my child? Books of meal tickets or single meal tickets information can be found under Food Services.
How can I get a work permit? The Work Experience office at your high school will help you obtain a work permit. For more information, see Work Permits.
How can I get a copy of my transcript? If you graduated from a PAUSD school less than five years ago, request a copy of your transcript from that school. If you graduated more than five years ago, request a transcript from Central Attendance. A fee is charged for each transcript. See Transcripts for more information.
How do I apply for a job with the District? Current openings for Teachers, Classified Employees, and Administrators are posted on the Internet. You may also contact the Human Resource Center for information and application forms:

What are school impact fees and who has to pay them? School Impact Fees are charged for new residential and commercial development within the boundaries of PAUSD. When you apply for a building permit, the Building Department will determine the assessable square footage and issue a School Impact Fee Compliance form. Your building permit will not be issued until the District has certified that you have paid the fee.Impact Fee and Paying Procedure
How do I apply for a senior exemption from the Parcel Tax? Exemptions from the $493 PAUSD Parcel Tax are available, upon application, to senior citizens (65 years or older) who own and occupy, as a principal residence, a parcel and apply to the District for exemption. Senior citizens who have paid the tax for the current fiscal year and who wish to obtain a refund may do so by going to the Business Office at 25 Churchill Avenue between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, Monday - Friday. Which school facilities are available for public use? Some PAUSD schools rent classrooms and multipurpose rooms to the public during hours when school is not in session. See Facility Rental for information about fees, site administrators, and requirements.
What are your business hours?

The PAUSD District Office at 25 Churchill Avenue is open Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:45 pm, except for holidays. Hours at individual school offices vary slightly from school to school.

During the month of July, the District Office is open Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM and is closed on Fridays.

How do I get to the PAUSD District Office? The PAUSD District Office is located at 25 Churchill Avenue in Palo Alto.

From I-280-Take the Page Mill Road exit or the Sand Hill Road exit to El Camino Real.
From Page Mill Road, turn left onto El Camino and drive north. Turn right onto Churchill, and left at the first opportunity into our parking lot at 25 Churchill Avenue.

From Sand Hill, turn right onto El Camino and drive south to Churchill Avenue. Turn left onto Churchill, and left again at the first opportunity into our parking lot at 25 Churchill Avenue.
From I-101-Take the Embarcadero Road exit and drive west on Embarcadero to El Camino Real. Turn left onto El Camino and drive south. At the next stoplight, turn left onto Churchill Avenue. Turn left again at the first opportunity into our parking lot at 25 Churchill Avenue.
What time do you close the day before a holiday? The District Office closes at 1 pm the day before Thanksgiving and the day before Winter Break. For information about school hours, contact individual schools.
How can I reach someone in the City of Palo Alto? Palo Alto Unified School District and the City of Palo Alto are separate entities. For information about the City of Palo Alto, call (650) 329-2100 or visit the City of Palo Alto Web site at www.city.palo-alto.ca.us.
