Membership
The Board Equity Oversight Committee shall consist of no more than two representative board members who will meet monthly with the Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources, Associate Superintendent of Education Services, and Assistant Superintendent of Equity and Student Affairs. The Committee makeup will be reviewed periodically to determine if the membership is sufficient to accomplish the charge. The Committee Chair may invite various members of staff to review issues related to the District's equity work.
Procedures and Administration
The Committee will meet monthly via conference call, or otherwise as deemed necessary to meet responsibilities in appropriate time frames. In addition to regularly scheduled meetings, the staff committee members should communicate regularly in order to maximize its impact.
- Meetings. The Committee shall record minutes at each meeting and will keep such records of its meetings as it shall deem appropriate.
- Subcommittees. The Committee may form and delegate authority to one or more subcommittees (including a subcommittee consisting of a single member), as it deems appropriate from time to time under the circumstances.
- Reports to Board. The Committee will report regularly to the Board.
- Charter. At least annually, the Committee will review and reassess the adequacy of the Charter and recommend any proposed changes to the Board for approval.
- Annual Self-Evaluation. At least annually, the Committee will evaluate its performance. The Chair of the Committee will determine the form and nature of the annual self-evaluation to determine if the Charter has been fulfilled. The Chairman of the Committee will report evaluation outcomes to the Board.
Expected Outcomes
The ultimate goal of BEOC is to assist the District and the Board in meeting its goals of educational equity that serve as the basis of the PAUSD Promise, and improve District accountability for the success of all students.
