Obligations to Protect Student and Family Rights to Access Public Education
Board Policies and Administrative Regulations 5145.13 Response to Immigration Enforcement and 5157 Gender Identity and Access identify PAUSD's commitment to ensuring all students' rights to a free public education, regardless of immigration status or gender identity. These policies and regulations address staff procedures on handling immigration enforcement requests, protecting student privacy, and supporting families affected by detention or deportation. They also affirm students’ rights to gender identity recognition, facility access, and participation in school activities. Targeting any student based on these protected statuses or classes may violate PAUSD's non-discrimination and anti-bullying measures that seek to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
