Press Release Update: Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School

Palo Alto, CA – A concerted effort by district-wide staff and authorities has led to an identified source of a written threat found on January 10 at Jane Lathrop Stanford (JLS) Middle School. The source is determined to be a student, and the situation is a non-credible threat.

Since the origin of the written message, which was discovered by another JLS student, the Palo Alto Police Department maintained active involvement with the Palo Alto Unified employees.

PAUSD appreciates all individuals who contributed help and time to resolve this matter. Counselors are still available for and mindful of student needs. Students are encouraged to contact school counselors should they desire to do so.
