Dear PAUSD Families,
Like many of you, I have monitored changing conditions and decisions made at every level of the education world over the last week. It is clear that conditions and guidance is evolving. While our August 17 start of the new year is approaching, I am also trying to balance making decisions with the best available information.
To alleviate some of the stress on our families at this time, PAUSD will extend the deadline to select hybrid or distance learning programs at the elementary level until July 31. The extra two weeks creates some issues related to staffing, but also allows time to evaluate conditions and clarify our plans. We have also canceled our meeting of the Board of Education meeting for tomorrow. There was no action required for the meeting and a little extra time may result in a better outcome for all.
Some elementary schools had previously scheduled webinars this week to discuss options facing families. Unless otherwise notified, the webinars have been canceled also. Beginning this Friday, all families will receive weekly updates from my office. I see the pause as a positive step in a journey full of obstacles! Thank you all for your understanding and patience.
