PAUSD Weekly Update - September 18, 2026
From the Office of the Superintendent
Superintendent Glass' Message . . .
Dear PAUSD Community,
Before anything else this week, our hearts are with a family in our district who has lost their child, and with the students and staff who knew them. Grief does not follow a schedule, and there is no wrong way to feel it.
Counselors and wellness staff are available at every school. Students can walk in or ask any adult on campus for help connecting. Families who would like a check-in for their student can call the school office, and staff and families can find the full range of district support by visiting our website.
Please use these. They exist for exactly this.
Thank you for being a community that takes care of one another.

💚 Expanding Mental Health & Wellness Resources Across PAUSD
PAUSD is building upon our commitment to student well-being by expanding our mental health support through our partnership with Uwill. Next week, families and students can learn more about our existing services and Uhelp, the new PAUSD crisis line.
Uhelp: 24/7 Crisis Support: Uhelp provides immediate, 24/7/365 crisis support for PAUSD students and families.
-
Immediate Access: Connect with licensed clinicians in 30 seconds or less, including nights, weekends, and breaks.
-
Open to All: No prior therapy enrollment required. Parents and guardians can also call directly for clinical guidance regarding a child’s safety or well-being.
-
Specialized K-12 Care: Clinicians trained in school-aged crisis support handle every call, coordinating safety planning alongside district protocols. (For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911).
Uwill Free Virtual Therapy: Free teletherapy remains available to all PAUSD students during evenings, weekends, and breaks.
Meet, Greet, and Learn: Uwill Information Sessions Next Week
Join us to learn more about accessing both Uwill teletherapy and the new Uhelp crisis line:
-
In-Person: Middle and high school sessions at Palo Alto High School. Elementary sessions at Ohlone, Hoover, and Briones.
-
Virtual: Evening online sessions for families unable to attend during the day.
-
On Campus: Uwill reps will host interactive lunch tables at all middle and high school campuses so students can learn more about these resources firsthand.
We hope to see you at an upcoming session as we work together to support the mental health, safety, and well-being of every PAUSD student.
Intentional Technology Use Ad Hoc Committee Update
The Intentional Technology Use Ad Hoc Committee’s charge and areas of consideration are now available on the PAUSD Website . If you are interested in joining the committee, application forms are expected to be available within the next two weeks.
Panorama Family Survey - One more week!
Please take a moment to complete your PAUSD Family-School Relationships Survey before it closes next week! You are welcome to complete one survey per school your children attend. We look forward to hearing from you!
Budget Values Survey: What Should Guide Our Decisions
You have heard me say the District is carrying a structural deficit and that closing it will require real choices. Before we talk about any specific program or position, we want to hear what our community believes should guide those choices.
The Budget Values Survey is open now to families, staff, students, and community members, and takes about five minutes.
This is step one of three. First, we define the values that matter most to our community. Second, we use those values to help build a list of possible changes. Third, we evaluate that list against the values you identify here, and the Board's decisions will be made in open, public session.
No reductions have been proposed, and this survey does not ask you to choose among them. When the results are in, I will share what we heard, including where responses disagree with each other.
This work is hard, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I can promise is that you will see how we got from your input to our recommendations, and that nothing will be decided without transparency and input.
