Superintendent Austin’s Message
ONE SEMESTER IN THE BOOKS
As we approach Winter Break and the midpoint of our academic year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you. Your unwavering support and commitment have fortified the cornerstone of our success and growth.
The holiday break presents a wonderful opportunity for all of us to pause, reflect on our achievements, and cherish the time with friends and family. It’s a time to celebrate the hard work and dedication of students, teachers, and staff who have helped make this school year productive and fulfilling.
As we recharge and enjoy this well-deserved break, let’s also look forward with optimism to the second half of the school year. It’s a chance to continue our journey of learning, growth, and excellence. I encourage students to use this time to relax, but also to stay engaged and excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead. Let’s return refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to embrace 2024!
Wishing you all a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season!
Spotlight on Spectra Elementary Art Program
On Monday, 12/18/23, PAUSD had the pleasure of hosting Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) leaders from San Ramon Valley Unified and Mount Diablo Unified School Districts to learn more about our Elementary Spectra Art Program! It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights, exchange ideas, and celebrate the power of arts education in our youngest students.
Spectra Art lessons are based on Visual Art Learning Targets that are aligned to the National Arts Standards. Students apply higher order thinking processes of imagining, decision-making, creating, and responding. Spectra Art lessons are scaffolded to build artistic confidence and risk-taking. Thank you to our dedicated teachers and students at Nixon and Escondido Elementary Schools who showcased their artistic talents. We are grateful for the chance to connect, collaborate, and elevate the arts in elementary education!
