Superintendent Austin’s Message . . .

This seems like a REALLY good time for a break! As we head into the final stretch of the school year, I hope you can take a little time to step away, and enjoy time with those who matter in your life.

For those families with seniors, a round of college acceptance/rejection letters went out yesterday. Please keep in mind that a stranger's decision about an application is not that important in the grand scheme of things. There are many paths to explore, and the one denied may turn out to be a gift.

Feedback Requested for Next Year's (2024-25) Promise Goals

We highly value our community’s insights as PAUSD shapes the 2024-25 Promise Goals. Principals have already started sending out the  2024-25 Promise Goals Feedback Survey. Please use the  2023-24 Draft Promise Annual Report as a reference to provide feedback. We thank you for sharing your diverse perspectives with the planning team.

Ethnic Studies Information Session

Tuesday, April 9, 2024 – 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Join the Ethnic Studies Information Session (via Zoom)

Should you have any questions please submit them in advance. We will address as many questions as possible during the meeting.

Ethnic Studies will be a new one-semester graduation requirement for the Class of 2029, beginning with the 9th-grade class of 2025-26. The District’s goal is to provide a meaningful, albeit brief exploration into the diverse histories and experiences of various ethnic groups, calibrated to be realistic and impactful within its scope. The Ethnic Studies Curriculum Committee continues to meet to further develop, revise, and restructure the survey Ethnic Studies course, while honoring the essential disciplinary understandings of the field.

Visit Ethnic Studies page on the PAUSD website.

Career Speaker Series

Henry M. Gunn High School hosted its annual Career Speaker Series this week. The week kicked off with Service Learning Day supported by Youth Community Service (YCS). Throughout the week, a diverse array of speakers from various sectors –  business and entrepreneurship, AI and machine learning, sports and wellness, entertainment, and work-based learning – shared invaluable insights and experiences. These presentations offered students a unique window into the possibilities of various career paths. We thank our dedicated speakers for presenting and engaging with students. These events bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional world, offering a dynamic platform for students to gain real-world skills and insights.
