Behavior Assistant Analyst

Reports to: Director of Special Education

OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, provide support to students exhibiting academic and behavioral challenges. Work directly with students, develop behavior management programs, modify teaching environments, and provide related services to teachers and other special education staff, and to parents as appropriate to ensure student success.

QUALIFICATION
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, Psychology, or related field, plus current or pending enrollment in a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst Program through an accredited university or institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing behavior supports to Special Education students
  • Have and maintain a valid California driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Develop and implement appropriate behavior intervention and behavior support plans in a consistent manner
  • Conduct Functional Analysis Assessments that meet State and Federal Educational Standards
  • Provide in-service trainings for Teachers and other staff on behavioral analysis and effective practices regarding positive behavior supports
  • Conduct observations, collect data, and report on program and/or intervention effectiveness
  • Implement and/or supervise employees who implement behavioral intervention plans
  • Work and communicate with other agencies to ensure that all aspects of the student's program are addressed
  • Work effectively with students and colleagues
  • Function as a positive, contributing member of the Educational Team
  • Attend IEP meetings and contribute to Goal Development and Behavior Planning for students
  • Work independently under general supervision while following IEPs
  • Assess the needs of the student and the influence of the environment on behavior and learning
  • Prepare reports, presentations, materials and present information accurately in a group setting
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and filing systems
  • Work with public and outside agencies
  • Observe legal and safe driving practice
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships and interpersonal skills with others using diplomacy, patience and courtesy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of a variety of disabilities and disorders and their impact on learning, including Autism Spectrum Disorder;
  • Applied Behavior Analysis and other methodologies used for addressing challenging behavior;
  • Understanding of behavioral challenges and how such challenges can impede learning;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and staff concerning behavior;
  • Ability to implement complex report writing methods.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
