The Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) Board of Education has appointed Ms. Karen Hendricks, current PAUSD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, as Interim Superintendent for the remainder of the school year.
Ms. Hendricks was chosen for her years of leadership, human resources expertise, public education teaching and administrative experience, professionalism, reputation for thoroughness, and recent background as the Interim Superintendent for Carmel Unified School District (CUSD).
Ms. Hendricks came to PAUSD in July 2017, bringing with her 26 years of experience in public education; most recently serving as Interim Superintendent for CUSD. Prior to that position, Ms. Hendricks served as CUSD’s Chief Human Resources Officer and before that she was Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources for Santa Cruz City Schools. Ms. Hendricks’ extensive curricular and instructional experience includes 16 years as a classroom teacher, site administrator and district level coordinator, as well as three years of work with the nationally known New Teacher Center’s School of Leadership Development Team. She has a BA degree from CSU Fresno and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from University of San Francisco.
The Board welcomes Ms. Hendricks to this new role at PAUSD and looks forward to her leadership in advancing the work of staff, addressing outstanding issues, launching the search for our next superintendent, and sustaining PAUSD’s mission: to support all PAUSD students as they prepare themselves to thrive as global citizens in a rapidly changing world.
