A new face will welcome students at five of Palo Alto Unified School District’s (PAUSD) schools this new school year. The new principals at two elementary schools and three secondary schools were named during the spring and into the summer. During the first week of school on Monday, August 14 (Grades 9-12), and Tuesday, August 15 (Grades K-8), the new leaders will welcome students for the 2017-18 school year.
The principals and their schools are:
- Ms. Shannon Coleman – Greendell School
- Ms. Dawn Yoshinaga – Ohlone Elementary School
- Dr. Valerie Royaltey-Quandt – Jordan Middle School
- Ms. Melissa Howell – Terman Middle School
- Ms. Kathie Laurence – Gunn High School
“Back to school time is always an exciting time of year,” shared PAUSD Superintendent Dr. Glenn “Max” McGee. “For these five new principals, their students, staff, and communities, this year will be extra special as they begin a new journey. Although leading separate sites, they are united together in our shared vision and our common goals: fostering high quality teaching and learning, assuring equity and access to our robust curriculum, and making wellness and safety paramount. We are fortunate to have these fantastic leaders in our district and I know their communities join me in welcoming them.”
The new leaders formally transitioned into their new roles with PAUSD in early July.
