PAUSD Board of Education Hires Search Firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA)

The Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) Board of Education selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) as their superintendent search firm at the November 28, 2017, special Board meeting.

Established in 1987, HYA is one of the oldest and largest search firms having assisted over 1,200 school boards select exceptionally talented leadership in schools across the nation. One hundred and fifty of those searches have been conducted in California. HYA’s reputation and experience make it one of the preeminent school search firms in the nation.

The Board expects to sign a contract with HYA at the December 5, 2017, regular Board meeting. The next steps in the process will include soliciting extensive community input from PAUSD students, staff, parents, and community members for use in recruiting and selecting a final candidate by early Spring 2018 with the goal of having the District’s next superintendent in place by July 1, 2018.  For more information on the timeline see  Superintendent Search Webpage.

In the coming months, specific information on how to provide individual input and when open forums will be conducted will be provided via community announcements, emails to staff and parents, and postings on a Superintendent Search page on the PAUSD website.   

The Board looks forward to a collaborative and comprehensive process for choosing the District’s next superintendent who will work side by side with students, staff, families, and community to achieve PAUSD’s mission: to support all PAUSD students as they prepare themselves to thrive as global citizens in a rapidly changing world.
