BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATES
Starting next week, the Board should expect updates from the District Office each Friday. Our team spent time together last week to review formatting, appropriate items, and timeline for submissions. You will receive a single document with information from each department. In some cases, you will also receive attachments with additional information.
WEBSITE PLACEMENT OF UPDATES
Friday update will be emailed to each member and posted to our website on the Board of Education page. Using this process, community members will have access to everything contained in the update. Content meeting the definition of “confidential” will be sent separately and not posted publicly. This method will reduce time spent on redactions and Public Records Act (PRA) requests. It also aligns with the Board’s commitment to transparency at the highest level. We are slightly out of system this week, so this update will post on Monday or Tuesday.
BOARD MEETING ONLINE CALENDAR
The old way of posting the online calendar for Board meetings was confusing. We have replaced it with a running list. The new format reduces “clicks” and allows us to easily update Special Meetings and Study Sessions in one place. You can find the new calendar located on the Board page.
COMMUNITY ROUTINE COMMUNICATIONS
I may request some of your thoughts regarding weekly communication with our families. We are finalizing an agreement with School News Roll Call for a professional monthly communication vehicle with our parents. Given our new way of posting weekly Board updates, it may not be necessary to add a weekly message from my office. I plan to ask some of our parent groups for their opinions.
START OF SCHOOL
Our team feels confident about the pending start of school. The professional development offered to our employees was outstanding and focused. We had great energy at the Chow Down and it carried into the site trainings.
Please let me know if anyone would like to visit schools with a staff member. I am booked in the mornings, but we can get people to join you for visits. I am also available on Wednesday.
The PAUSD bond measure may not appear on the County Registrar of Voters website yet. It was submitted and confirmed. They are a little behind in updating their website. It will appear shortly.
