Elementary ELA Pilot & Adoption Committee

California's next naturally occurring adoption cycle for English/Language Arts (ELA) will occur in 2027. With the Board's and District's knowledge that the materials currently being used were not formally adopted using the Board Policy and Administrative Regulations in place, a plan for corrective action has been requested. To that end, PAUSD has formed an English/Language Arts Instructional Materials Advisory Committee. The committee is charged with selecting two to three curricula to pilot during the 2021-22 school year, designing the pilot, and making a recommendation for formal adoption of curricula to the Board of Education in the spring of 2022.

Most recently, the committee voted on the three curricula that will be piloted: Into Reading (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), Benchmark Advance (Benchmark Education), and myView Literacy (Savvas).

The Elementary ELA Pilot & Adoption Committee is a community-based committee consisting of teachers, specialists, administrators, and parents, working in alignment with Board Policy 6161.1.

Thank you very much to the interested elementary parents who applied to be on the ELA Committee for the 2021-22 school year. The positions have been filled and the applicants have been notified.
