Gunn Students to Participate in Monterey Bay Aquarium Ocean Plastic Pollution Summit

In the coming weeks, over 170 students at Gunn including all the AP Environmental Science and Marine Biology classes will be involved in projects that will increase awareness of the negative environmental and health effects surrounding single use plastics (plastic utensils, clamshells, condiment containers, straws, etc.), develop projects and activities to promote using less single use plastic on campus, collect data to ascertain the efficacy of their work, and ultimately present those findings to the Summit partners at the Monterey Bay Aquarium at the end of April this year.

More information about the Summit can be found here. For updates on the students' progress, please get in touch with Eric Ledgerwood at or Neeti Schworetzky at
