Greendell School is home to the Palo Alto Unified School District’s Pre-Kindergarten programs. Young Fives, Transitional Kindergarten, PAUSD Special Education Preschool Program, Springboard to Kindergarten, and PreSchool Family are all part of Greendell School. Our programs meet the needs of young children and their families through developmentally appropriate curriculum, family engagement and family education in a caring, inclusive school community.

  • Young Fives is for children who are age eligible for kindergarten but are not ready to enter kindergarten. Parents participate one day a week in the classroom and attend monthly discussion sessions in the evening.
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. Children who have their fifth birthday on or after September 2nd through December 2nd that same school year are eligible for TK. 
  • PAUSD Special Education Preschool Program was established to meet the needs of children ages 3 to 5 years old who have Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). The preschool program focuses on the whole child and strives to help children overcome challenges they may encounter in educational environments.
  • Springboard to Kindergarten is a pre-kindergarten program for who PAUSD students who will enter kindergarten in the fall and have not had access to quality preschool experiences. 
  • PreSchool Family is a parent education program serving families with children ages birth through five years. For children, the program offers a developmentally appropriate, play-based, educational experience.
