Summer School

We believe in developing a summer program that equitably supports and challenges students through an engaging and integrated curriculum that blends academic instruction with enrichment.

Students must be currently attending a PAUSD school before being considered into our summer school program.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Summer School attendance requirement?

Summer School is a condensed program, therefore students are required to attend every day. Three tardies count as one absence and students with three absences during a course will be automatically dropped from the program. Additionally, for Living Skills and Economics, students MUST attend the first and last day to keep their enrollment and receive credit for these courses.

Who is eligible to enroll in Summer School?

Only students who are currently attending school in the Palo Alto Unified School District can enroll in the program. Please see the requirements below regarding which students are eligible for each program.

What determines program availability?

There are a number of factors that determine program availability including student assessments, grades, facilities, and staffing.

What is the difference between Opt-in and Opt-out?
  • Opt-in program means students are not automatically registered and it's up to parents to indicate their desire to be registered.
  • Opt-out program means students are automatically registered and it's up to parents to opt-out of the program.
